Which one to choose
- Mailtrap, if the goal is that staging never emails a real person. Point your app's SMTP settings at the sandbox and every outgoing message is captured, with HTML and spam checks on top.
- testmail.app, if you send tens of thousands of test emails a month, need to keep messages for weeks, or want every teammate to have access. Its Pro plan covers 50,000 emails for $39 a month.
- Mailosaur, if you also test SMS codes, want previews of how an email renders in different clients, or buy through an enterprise contract.
- MailBots, if your tests must use your own domain and fit within 5,000 or 25,000 messages a month. Starter costs $10 a month and includes the REST API, signed webhooks and the verification code already extracted.
What MailBots does not do
- It does not capture outgoing mail. MailBots only receives mail delivered over the internet to your subdomain, so it cannot stop staging from emailing real customers.
- It does not test SMS, render email previews or score spam.
- Paid plans delete messages after 72 hours.
- The largest plan covers 25,000 messages a month and 3 team members.
- You need a domain you control and access to its DNS: one TXT record and one MX record.
- There is no free trial of the paid plans. The free browser extension and Telegram bot use shared mailbots.top addresses and have no API.
